Human vaccine trials for coronavirus in the smart state starting soon
The University of Queensland COVID-19 vaccine team have partnered with Nucleus Network to start human clinical trials in Brisbane.
During phase 1 of the clinical testing, 96 Queenslanders will be called upon be part of the trial that is expected to commence in July.
The University expects to have results following approximately three months of testing, with the ambition to produce an effective vaccine six months early.
The Queensland Government has provided $10 million in funding to the University of Queensland project which has been tasked by the Oslo-based Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI) to develop a vaccine against the novel coronavirus.
